Trigonometry

Trigonometry is a compact but high-value unit that appears on every Higher tier paper and, in its right-angled form, on Foundation too. It covers SOHCAHTOA for right-angled triangles, the sine and cosine rules for any triangle, the area rule, exact trig values, trig graphs and 3D problems.

Right-angled trigonometry is the foundation and the most common exam context, so get fully fluent with it before anything else. The sine rule, cosine rule and area of a triangle are Higher-tier staples and often appear together in one extended question. Exact values, trig graphs and trig equations are the grade 8 to 9 material. Trigonometry depends on Pythagoras and rearranging formulae, so those should be secure first, and knowing which rule to reach for comes from doing lots of mixed questions.
